What’s really on your mind?

The legendary Marilyn Monroe once quoted, ‘I’m selfish impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you cant handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best’. In a world continually devoid of the personal physical connection and in its stead a virtual world of Instagram stories, Snapchat stories, Facebook live stories, Whatsapp stories, we get so involved in telling stories to a virtual audience for those likes/attention. Perception is racing reality. Did invention of social media offset the necessity of the physical connection?

When everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn’t thinking. Some insist that perception is the illusion of reality. I think its all a case of smoke and mirrors. A mirage that only clears the further from it you are. My 2 cents. If I believe in myself so much that am drinking in my own koolaid. So much so that I present my own subjective formulated opinion as the objective factual truth to the world. Who exactly is to argue otherwise?Where is the line drawn in the sand?

Is perception reality or is reality truly perceived? I know, what in the actual fuck? Envision this, In 1999, the perception of having 1000 people following you was utterly dreadful. The reality then was presence of AIDS pandemic, gang violence that was predominant in the 90’s and the crackheads on the loose (they still are). Fast forward to 2017 where careers (and I use the term loosely), are built on the reality of sustaining more than 1000 people following you in order to push the perception of fame/stature. Sharing as many of your intimate moments with friends’ for that shine/glory

Facebook encourages you always to share whats on your mind, update your status and let your ‘friends’ know whats popping. You gather your thinking hat and prepare to blow the minds of your followers. You caption, edit and filter through atleast 10 apps before letting in the lights and action. Is it lying or just adding a little sparkle/flavor to an otherwise possible meagre post. But if I regularly post, isn’t that ideally my experience and my truth? My Reality? Your Perception? Whats really on your mind? Why Do you Care? You know you do…
